How to use the multiplication worksheet generator
- Pick a layout: facts across (7 × 8 = ), facts in columns, or longer multiplication (2-digit × 1-digit, 3-digit × 1-digit, 2-digit × 2-digit).
- Tick the times tables to practice, choose what to multiply them by (0 to 12, 1 to 10…) and how many problems. Add missing factors (7 × __ = 56) for a challenge.
- Check the preview, press "New set" until you like it, then "Make the worksheet" to print it with the answer key on its own page.
Tips for teachers and parents
- Work on two or three tables at a time, starting with 2, 5 and 10, then 3, 4 and 11, then the harder 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12.
- Missing factor problems (6 × __ = 42) practice division facts at the same time, so mix them in once the facts feel secure.
- Time one worksheet a week rather than every one: children see progress without the pressure of a clock every day.
- For 2-digit × 2-digit, give a sheet of 12 problems: each needs room for two partial products and the addition.
- When a child gets a fact wrong, ask for a fact they know nearby (7 × 8 from 7 × 7 + 7). Building on known facts sticks better than repeating the answer.
Facts, columns and long multiplication
Facts across are quickest to read and good for fluency practice. Columns line up the digits the way children write longer multiplication, and the 2-digit and 3-digit layouts multiply by a single digit from the tables you tick (so a child practicing the 7s gets 46 × 7). 2-digit × 2-digit problems use any numbers from 11 to 99, with room on the sheet to show the working.
Questions people ask
- Is the multiplication worksheet generator free?
- Yes. Making and printing multiplication worksheets, with answer keys, is free with no sign-up.
- Can I make a worksheet for just one times table?
- Yes. Tick only that table (for example 7) and every problem uses it, in both orders: 7 × 4 and 4 × 7.
- Does every worksheet have an answer key?
- Yes, on its own page so it can be kept back. You can switch it off on the print page.
- Can I print the same worksheet again?
- Yes. The print page's address holds the settings and a seed, so bookmarking it or printing it again gives the same problems. "New set" makes a different one.
- Is there online multiplication practice too?
- Yes: the free times tables speed test, math flash cards and multiplication games all work on screen.
