Snap

Snap a homework question. Learn how to do it.

Photograph a math question from homework. Eurekami reads it, checks the problem with your child, and teaches it step by step. Then it gives a similar question to try alone.

Teaching, not an answer sheet

Apps that print the answer make homework faster and learning slower. Eurekami turns the photo into a short lesson, then checks your child can do one on their own. The goal is that tomorrow's homework feels easier, not just tonight's.

How Snap works, step by step

  • Take a photo or choose one from the device. On a phone or tablet, the camera opens straight away. Your child can also type the question instead.
  • Drag a box around just the one question they need help with.
  • Eurekami shows what it read and asks: is this the question? Your child fixes anything that's wrong.
  • Under How to solve it, your child writes the next line themselves, or taps Show me this step if they're truly stuck.
  • When the question is done, they get a similar one to try alone.

An example

Your child snaps 3x + 5 = 20 from a worksheet. Eko asks what they could do to both sides to get 3x on its own. They write 3x = 15. Eko asks: three lots of x make 15, so what's one lot of x? They write x = 5, and every line has been theirs.

Then comes a new question built the same way, such as 4x + 3 = 23, with no help unless they ask. If they solve it, they've learned the method. If not, the steps are right there to go through again.

If the photo is hard to read

Handwriting, shadows and folded pages can confuse any camera. Eurekami always shows what it read before it starts teaching, so your child can fix a wrong digit. If it still can't turn the photo into a math question, it asks them to check it or type it more simply.

Private by design

Your child crops the photo to just the question, on their own device. Location and camera details are removed, the image is read on our servers, and it is deleted after reading. Photos are never sent to third parties.

What Snap is for

  • One math question at a time from homework, a worksheet or a textbook
  • Children who are stuck and want to understand the method, not copy a result
  • Parents who want to help with homework but don't remember how it's taught now

Helping at the kitchen table

If you're sitting with your child, Snap gives you a script to follow. Read Eko's question aloud, let your child write the line, and resist the urge to say the answer. You'll see how the method is taught today, too.

What Snap doesn't do

It doesn't solve a whole page at once, and it doesn't keep a gallery of your child's homework. For English writing, use the Writing Coach instead, which underlines mistakes and lets your child fix them.

Getting started

Snap is in the student app on any device with a browser. A phone works best for the photo, but on a laptop or Chromebook your child can upload a picture or type the question. Eurekami Plus includes unlimited Snap.
