Writing Coach
A writing coach that lets your child do the fixing
From first sentences to exam essays. Eurekami underlines each mistake and lets your child fix it first, then gives three clear points on ideas and structure.
My weekend
Which word tells us when?
Grammar that sticks
Tenses, agreement, punctuation and spelling are skills on the same map as math, so they come up in daily practice until they're mastered. A comma rule your child keeps missing in their writing becomes a skill they practice, not a red mark they forget.
Grammar skills by age
- Ages 5 to 7: nouns and verbs; is, are, was or were; joining words like and, but and because
- Ages 8 to 9: commas in lists, subject-verb agreement, words like when, if and although
- Ages 10 to 11: relative clauses, active or passive, I or me
- Ages 12 and up: complex sentences, misplaced modifiers, parallel structure, pronoun agreement
There's even a skill on US and UK spelling, so a child in Texas and a child in Leeds can each get color or colour right for where they live.
How feedback works
- Your child gets a writing task that fits their age.
- They write and submit it.
- Eurekami underlines each mistake. Your child fixes them first, on their own.
- Then come three points on ideas and structure: what works, and what to try next.
Fixing their own mistakes is slower than being handed a corrected version, and that's the point. The fix belongs to them, so it's far more likely to stay.
An example
A nine-year-old writes: "Last saturday me and my brother goes to the park. We seen a dog chasing it's tail." Eurekami underlines saturday, me and my brother, goes, seen and it's. Your child corrects them to Saturday, my brother and I, went, saw and its.
Then the three points might be: your opening tells us when and where, which is great; add one detail about the dog so we can picture it; and finish with how you felt, so the paragraph has an ending.
Writing tasks for every age
- Ages 5 to 7: one good sentence
- Ages 8 to 11: a paragraph
- Ages 12 and up: essays, letters and stories
- Exam-style writing for the 11+, US state tests and GCSE English Language
In Exam Prep, written answers are marked against the published criteria for that exam, with each mark explained.
Reading aloud
Younger children can read a short passage aloud. Eurekami listens on our own servers and shows which words to practice, like the tricky ough in through, though and thought. The recording is deleted straight after, and it's never sent to third parties.
What the Writing Coach won't do
- It won't rewrite your child's work for them.
- It won't fix mistakes silently. Every correction is made by the writer.
- It won't bury them in comments. Three points is enough to act on.
Privacy
