  • Show answers together and note who needs support in the main task.

I do: model it · 12 min

  • Example: Clue: a huge number of pests, like locusts. Which letters fill the gap? p l a _ _ _
  • Step 1: -gue says /g/ (tongue) and -que says /k/ (unique). Both endings come from French.

  • Answer: gue
  • Pause after each step and ask a student to say what comes next.
