I do: model it · 10 min
- Work through the example out loud, saying why you do each step, not just what you do.
- Example: Choose the correct word. Yesterday the guide ___ us up the hill.
- Step 1: These words are often confused because they look or sound alike.
- Step 2: 'led' is the past tense of 'lead' (to guide).
- Step 3: Put it back into the sentence and read it aloud: "Yesterday the guide led us up the hill."
- Step 4: So the answer is: led
- Answer: led
- Pause after each step and ask a student to say what comes next.
We do: guided practice · 10 min
