Warm-up · 6 min
- Quick retrieval from earlier learning (Days of the week). Students answer on mini whiteboards.
- Show answers together and note who needs support in the main task.
- Which day comes before Friday? (Saturday / Wednesday / Thursday / Sunday) → ThursdayPrompt: Say the days in order: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday…
- Today is Saturday. What day will it be in 5 days? (Sunday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday) → ThursdayPrompt: Count on 5 days, one at a time.
- How many days are there in 1 week? → 7Prompt: Count the days from Monday to Sunday.
Hook · 6 min
- Ask the class to estimate the length of the room or the weight of a bag before measuring it.
- Share the objective: Months of the year. Read the success criteria together.

Watch out for
- Measuring from the end of the ruler instead of zero.
- Converting units the wrong way (multiplying instead of dividing).

- Pair with a confident partner for the guided practice.
